Tooth Crowns – Why, Types and How

A crown, if it hurts us, is not worth wearing. – Pearl Bailey

What is a Tooth Crown

A tooth-shaped “cap” placed over a damaged tooth. It helps restores its shape, size, strength, and improves appearance.

Types

There are many types available these days from Metallic for kids to Metal Alloys, Porcelain fused Metal, Full Porcelain, and Zirconia Crowns.

Special Mention - Implants

Process

Even though the process will vary from clinic to clinic, in general, it starts with an inspection of the affected tooth. It would then be cleaned of the infected part. If needed, a Root Canal Treatment may be performed.
